Ireland Hot Favourites To Retain Prestbury Cup At Cheltenham

Ireland are hot favourites to train more winners than their British counterparts at Cheltenham this year after BoyleSports made them 8/11 favourites to retain the Prestbury Cup.

Great Britain won the first two installments of the Prestbury Cup after it was introduced in 2014..

but Irish-trained horses have ruled the roost at the Festival for the past two years..

..and are 8/11 to make it three in a row before the curtain comes down on Friday 16th March.

An English handler hasn’t come out as top trainer at Cheltenham since Nicky Henderson back in 2012 and the prolific Irish duo of Willie Mullins and Gordon Elliott are first and second favourites to train most winners at this year’s Festival.

Great Britain’s challenge, including the likes of Henderson, Alan King, Colin Tizzard and Paul Nicholls, are expected to come up short at 11/8 with a share of the spoils between the British and Irish an 8/1 shot.
