Jury Duty To Power Home At Navan

BoyleSports Racing Ambassador Robbie Power had another day to remember at Gowran Park yesterday and he may be able to bag a winner at Navan today to cap off the weekend.

Jury Will Be All Out
In his Herald column on Saturday, Power suggested that The Holy One would be his best ride of the day when taking on Pallasator in the opening maiden hurdle but Jury Duty could be the horse that brings him back to the winners enclosure.

Jury Duty is joined by two Gordon Elliott stable companions in the five runner Ten Up Novice Chase and although Thyestes Chase winner Monbeg Notorious would look set to come out on top of official ratings…

this looks readymade for Jury Duty.

An absolute model of consistency since going over fences this season, Jury Duty ran a blinder in a Grade 1 at Christmas, albeit in a race with plenty of drama, and got collared late home when dropped in over three miles at Naas last time. I’d expect Jury Duty to be able to reverse the form with Moulin A Vent around Navan where even more questions will be asked of jumping and if Jury Duty is to be ridden a bit more prominently this time he may well be able to put this race to bed up the straight and fend off Monbeg Notorious and Mossback.

Champion Hurdle Entry To Come Good
It is a tricky afternoon for punters at Navan but the four-runner Boyne Hurdle may go the way of champion trainer Willie Mullins. It was somewhat strange to see that Grade 1 winning juvenile Bapaume was taken out of the Stayers Hurdle but left in the Champion Hurdle when his last two runs would suggest that further is better for him but realistically that is a minor detail as he doesn’t look to be good enough for either race.

Bapaume can land a Grade 2 here

…at the expense of Diamond Cauchois who has progressed rapidly through handicaps and was an impressive third in the Galmoy last time behind Presenting Percy.

However, Bapaume’s effort behind Apple’s Jade and Supasundae looked more than good enough to win a Boyne Hurdle of this standard if Rich Ricci’s five-year-old can repeat that run and despite the fact that he’s to give 5lbs to Diamond Cauchois, he comes out 10lbs clear on ratings so still should have 5lbs to spare.

Recommended Bets:
Bapaume (6/5) – 2.20 Navan
Jury Duty (4/1) – 4.00 Navan
