Kemboy Moves Up The Betting For Gold Cup Victory

Kemboy has made an eye-catching move up the betting for next year’s Gold Cup after scoring a high-profile Grade 1 success in Friday’s Savills Chase.

David Mullins’ mount produced a scintillating performance to land the big race of the day at Leopardstown and was immediately cut into 12/1 from 33/1 to go on and win the Gold Cup at Cheltenham in March. However, the 12/1 quickly evaporated as support poured in, seeing Willie Mullins’ 6-year-old close further into 7/1.

Presenting Percy remains the 3/1 antepost favourite while Road To Respect stays at 12/1 after overcoming a couple of stumbles and bad traffic to claim a place.

Earlier, Apple’s Jade made all to win the Christmas Hurdle for a second consecutive year as Faugheen crashed out at the penultimate hurdle. Gordon Elliott’s mare had already been favourite but is now just an Even money shot from 7/4 to win the Mares’ Hurdle at next year’s Festival.

Our Gold Cup market still looks wide open

…as we’ve yet to see the antepost favourite this season and now they’re gathering in behind him. Clan des Obeaux and now Kemboy have taken a chunk of the money after their high-profile wins over Christmas but we’re still seeing support for a host of others at greater prices and there’s plenty of time for a shake-up yet.
