Lostintranslation’s King George Run “Too Bad To Be True”

Grand National and Gold Cup winning jockey Robbie Power has sounded a note of optimism on Lostintranslation despite a disappointing performance in Thursday’s King George Chase.

Power’s mount was pulled up at the third last fence in the race won for the second year in a row by Clan Des Obeaux, but with trainer Colin Tizzard hinting that wind surgery may be required, the jockey told BoyleSports on Friday that the 8/1 Gold Cup shot isn’t to be written off.

“Lostintranslation was just never travelling.

The only good thing to take out of it was that it was just too bad to be true…

…I think we can just put a line through it because that’s just racing and the way things can go. We’re just looking forward to the next day; something will come to light and we can move on from it.”

Power is also hopeful going into today’s Welsh Grand National at Chepstow, where Elegant Escape is the 3/1 favourite to win the race for a second successive year:

“It’s tough for horses to win back-to-back Nationals but he’s only 6lb higher than he was last year. He’s got the blinkers on him again which seemed to sharpen him up at Newbury. Yes, he has weight to give away, but it doesn’t look the strongest of Welsh Nationals, there isn’t much strength and depth to it.

“Now McGinty was a decent novice without being a star; he’d have to have a chance off 10”13, and Truckers Lodge was a decent winner round Chepstow in a pretty ordinary Beginners’ Chase; he only has 10”5 on his back. But hopefully Elegant Escape can go in again, he has a very good chance and he seems in very good form.”
