Mother & Daughter Combo To Collect At Fairyhouse

Holeinthewall Bar and Camlann both make a quick reappearance at Fairyhouse in a bid to follow up their wins at Down Royal on Tuesday.

Penalty No Obstacle

Holeinthewall Bar may help jockey Luke McGuinness get off to a perfect start as a conditional jockey. He opened his account over fences in some style at Down Royal and although he is going to be asked to win on testing conditions twice in a short space of time, the BoyleSports Irish Grand National April 17th Handicap Chase looks an ideal opportunity for the nine-year-old to win again.

Recent winner Tulpar and the consistent Paper Lantern would look the obvious dangers but Holeinthewall Bar eased his way through the field under Denis O’Regan and went clear with the minimum of fuss so the race shouldn’t have taken much out of the horse who will be a first ride for 7lb claimer McGuinness outside of the amateur ranks. His 7lbs will be a big help in a race where many of the rivals can be ignored on all recent form.

Mother and Daughter Combo

Redhotfillypeppers would look the obvious choice in the concluding listed bumper which looks quite a hot race to end the Fairyhouse card but one at a price may be preferred.

The Birdie Crowe is a two-time winner from four starts and

although the ground might not be just ideal for her, she could be capable of running well at a price.

The daughter of Westerner was impressive in winning her two races and maybe looked a shade unlucky at the Galway Festival when not beaten that far in a decent contest so she can hopefully make the frame here for Jessica and Kate Harrington.

Free Fall

Nicholls Can Mix It With The Best

Over at Sandown the big betting heat is the Betfred Mobile Heroes Handicap Hurdle and top weight Mr Mix, fitted with cheek pieces for the first time, is given a tentative nod to defy his lofty weight.

Nicholls has chosen Stan Sheppard to claim 5lbs off the top weight who was quite impressive when winning at Wincanton over Christmas and although he has been given a 6lbs hike by the handicapper and now faces an even tougher assignment this time around, he’s a six-year-old that could be progressive enough to overcome all that and just about nick this one at 8/1.

Recommended Bets:
Holeinthewall Bar (2/1) – 2.20 Fairyhouse (Sat)
The Birdie Crowe (8/1) – 4.30 Fairyhouse (Sat)
Mr Mix (8/1) – 3.00 Sandown (Sat)
