Mullins’ Flat Recruit To Make It Two From Two

The treble of Apple’s Jade, Footpad and Invincible Cave is going to be popular with punters at Navan on Sunday with all three looking too short to back on their own but thrown in together can offer punters something to consider.

However, there are a couple of other horses early on the card that make more appeal.

Walshy To Get The Job Done Again
Mark Walsh carried the colours of his boss JP McManus to victory in the opening race at Naas on Saturday when Red Jack obliged but on a lower scale he can do so again at Navan on Aa Bee See.

Niall Madden’s four-year-old won’t reach the same heights as Red Jack but the trainer couldn’t have his horses in better form at the moment and this lad is one of his recent winners after scoring off a low mark on the level under Tom Madden.

Aa Bee See is a two time winner on the flat off a low mark but he wasn’t disgraced when finishing fourth on his last start over hurdles at Downpatrick and he showed enough that day to suggest he can go in off this type of rating.

His four-year-old allowance comes in handy here as he gets weight off eight of his rivals and with most of them looking fairly exposed at this stage…

Aa Bee See can hopefully get his head back in front in the opener.

Mullins’ Flat Recruit To Make It Two From Two
On a day when the feature Fortria Chase got a very disappointing turn out, the For Auction Novice Hurdle has attracted a competitive field although it is questionable whether we will see a future Supreme Novices’ Hurdle winner like we did last year with Labaik.

Last year’s winning trainer Gordon Elliott has two good chances with Morgan and Mengli Khan lining up for Gigginstown and the latter would look the pick of that duo but Stratum is the horse they all have to beat.

The Galway maiden hurdle winner Stratum really went away from the field when the penny dropped on his debut for Willie Mullins and he can be expected to improve from that outing and can prove another good ride for Paul Townend as he deputises for the injured Ruby Walsh this weekend.

Stratum ran off 87 on the flat on his last outing for John Gosden and he managed to put five lengths between himself and the rest of the field at Galway so with natural improvement here…

he should be smart enough to make it two from two.
