Native River Now Gold Cup 2nd Favourite

Native River enhanced his credentials in the Cheltenham Gold Cup market after winning the Denman Chase at Newbury by 12 lengths on Saturday.

Colin Tizzard’s charge now only has King George hero Might Bite (7/2) ahead of him in the betting for the blue riband event at Cheltenham next month as he joins last year’s winner Sizing John as joint second favourite.

We’ve slashed his odds into 7/1 from 10/1 in the aftermath of the victory..

…but said that sizable bets at 7/1 forced them to shorten his price even further into 6/1.

Harry Whittington‘s stable star Saint Calvados was another major eye-catcher on Saturday when claiming Grade Two honours at Warwick and is now 7/1 from 14/1 this morning for what is looking like a competitive renewal of the Arkle.

Altior meanwhile, who was already a hot favourite for the Queen Mother Champion Chase, has gone odds-on at 4/6 from 5/4 after comfortably getting the better of Politoloque at Newbury.
