O’Brien In Pole Position To Win Feature Honours At Newbury

There is some good racing in England and France this weekend and it will be fascinating to see how the Ballydoyle runners fare out ahead of York’s Ebor meeting this week. O’Brien would look to have solid claims of landing the feature honours at Newbury.

Gustav to shoot the Breeze

Last year’s Hungerford Stakes runner-up Librisa Breeze is back for another crack at the Group 2 Hungerford Stakes but Gustav Klimt is the preference in the 3.35 Newbury.

The three-year-old is obviously in receipt of a weight for age allowance so gets 5lbs from Librisa Breeze but Gustav Klimt takes a drop in class and trip here at Newbury which should see him return to winning ways.

Gustav Klimt has been without a win since he landed the 2,000 Guineas Trial at Leopardstown back in April.

He has held the best of company since then and should find this assignment a little easier.

Each of Gustav Klimt’s efforts in Group 1 company came over a mile and he wasn’t disgraced but dropping back to this Group 2 against some more exposed rivals and back over 7-furlongs should all be positives to help Gustav Klimt return in front.

Watch out for Mullins

Tornado Watch was victorious at Tramore on Thursday evening and returns there on Saturday with 10st4lbs on his back but the nine-year-old can defy the weight to win the feature 6.50 race at the Waterford track.

Tornado Watch has been a fine servant for Emmet Mullins mixing it between hurdles and the flat, winning over hurdles here at Tramore back in April when landing a few nice bets and running well in good company on the level since then.

One of those runs saw him finish second to Irish Derby winner Latrobe, albeit six and a half lengths, behind him and it was a good effort behind Nessun Dorma who since won a valuable race at Galway.

Emmet will be taking on his uncle, Willie, here which is a formidable prospect in itself, but Tornado Watch is picked to have a bit too much for Small Bit Of Love and the selection could be well treated off a handicap rating of 81.
