Punters Back Amedeo Modigliani For Balmoral Handicap

4.40 Ascot - Balmoral Handicap

Outright Betting

There are five terrific Group races to look forward to on Champions Weekend at Ascot this Saturday, with one of the biggest betting races being the Balmoral Handicap.

Aidan O’Brien’s young star Amedeo Modigliani is being backed to land the Balmoral Handicap with his odds cut into 4/1 from 8/1 over the last 24 hours.

He is yet to set the world alight but with the punters’ support, he could go well off a nice mark of 98.

Lord North shares favouritism at 4/1 following his impressive victory in the Cambridgeshire at Newmarket last month.

Frankie Dettori is booked again to steer the John Gosden-trained 3-year old to success with Gosden yet to win Europe’s richest mile handicap. However, he has a 12lb higher mark to prove worthy of now, not to mention the different ground conditions.

Kynren is the third favourite at 7/1 and was fifth in this race last year. He returns to the 1m trip after landing the Challenge Cup at Ascot earlier this month over 7f on soft ground and is not without a chance.

The Revenant was as big as 10/1 just over a week ago with his odds gradually tumbling into 5/2 to win the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes for trainer F-H Graffard. This 4-year old son of Dubawi has won his last six races with his recent win coming in a Group 2 at Longchamp after 128 days off the track.

Magna Grecia is the 5/1 second favourite for Ballydoyle maestro O’Brien with his 2000 Guineas Stakes form at Newmarket sure to throw him in the mix.
