Shishkin Odds Cut As Favourite For Champion Chase At Cheltenham Festival

It was a good day for Nicky Henderson as the talented Shishkin won the Grade One Clarence Hall Chase at Ascot on Saturday in fine style under jockey Nico de Boinville.

Energumene made most of the running but was denied by a length after Shishkin’s turn of foot got the better of him on the run towards the finishing line.

Last year’s Arkle winner is now 4/6 from 11/10 to win the Champion Chase at Cheltenham with the Willie Mullins trained Energumene 2/1 second favourite.

The Nicky Henderson trained Jonbon won the Grade Two Supreme Trial Hurdle at Haydock justifying his short odds of 2/5 in the betting. He remains unchanged at 3/1 to land the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival this March.

Minella Drama won the opening race on the Haydock card, the Grade Two Novices’ Chase for trainer Donald McCain and is 25/1 from 50/1 for the Turner Novices’ Chase.
