Wedding Bells In BoyleSports Shops On Gold Cup Day

It seems that not even your wedding day can get in the way of getting your Cheltenham Gold Cup bet on.

This was evident when loyal BoyleSports’ customers and racing enthusiasts Lee and Juanita Costello stopped by on the way to their wedding reception to place their Gold Cup bet.

The couple were married in Carrickmacross, Co Monaghan and as they made their way from the church to the reception in Ballymagarvey in Co Meath, they made a quick pit stop in BoyleSports’ Ardee shop to place their all-important wager.

The wedding visitors didn’t stop there however as another customer, Jimmy Carter from Inchicore, had an interesting request for BoyleSports regarding a bet on his wedding day involving his now wife Nessa Kenny, from Roscommon.

Jimmy told BoyleSports that his wedding was set to take place in Athlone at the Shamrock Lodge on Gold Cup day, Friday 18th March, and if his wife-to-be was not on time that the wedding would not go ahead as he was not going to miss the Gold Cup race. Saying “If it’s not done by 1.30 it won’t be done!”

To show his seriousness on the matter, unbeknownst to Nessa, Jimmy called into his local BoyleSports shop on Dame Street to place a €25 bet on her to be on time for the ceremony at Even money.

Gold Cup day is the pinnacle of the Cheltenham festival and brings out racing fans from novices to experts to place their bets.

It is fantastic to see couples like Lee and Juanita Costello take time out on their special day to have their first bet as a married couple on the race.

Jimmy Carter is a fine example of the importance of the Gold Cup to racing fans by going to the lengths of backing his wife to be on time so he would not miss the race on his wedding day and we would like to thank them for choosing to bet with BoyleSports.”
