Thunder-and-Roses

Weights Released For BoyleSports Irish Grand National

The weights for the 2016 BoyleSports Irish Grand National were launched on Monday morning at the Curragh base of last year’s winning trainer, Sandra Hughes.

A five way tie for favouritism sees the Gordon Elliott trained trio of Mala Beach, Cause Of Causes and Noble Endeavour head the betting at 10/1 alongside the Willie Mullins trained Roi Des Francs and Pat Fahy’s Morning Assembly.

Last year’s winner Thunder and Roses is priced at 20/1 to win back-to-back Nationals and is one of five entries from Sandra Hughes.

Golden Wonder who finished second in the race in 2014 is priced at 25/1 alongside Lyreen Legend, whilst Sub Lieutenant (14/1) and Wrath Of Titans (33/1) make up the quintet for last year’s winning trainer.

Sizing Coal, third in last year’s race, is on offer at 33/1 with last year’s runner up, Rule The World on offer at 14/1 to go one better at the county Meath track.

Sunday’s Leinster National winner Venitien De Mai is also priced at 14/1 and has been allotted a weight of 9stone 13lbs whilst Thyestes Chase winner My Murphy who finished seventh in the race last year is priced at 16/1.

We are delighted to be sponsoring one of the most prestigious races in the Irish National Hunt calendar for the third year and wish all connections the best of luck as they prepare for the 3 mile 5 furlong contest on Easter Monday.
