Whiskey Sour To Taste Success In Ebor

The York Ebor Festival ends today with the Ebor itself and there is a very strong Irish hand gone over to contest one of Europe’s toughest handicaps.

Aidan O’Brien wouldn’t be quite as renowned for his targeting of the British handicaps but it was no surprise to see Willie Mullins involved in the race as he targets a path to the Melbourne Cup with a couple of his runners.

Buick To Be The Toast For Mullins
All the fuss before this Ebor surrounded Stratum and whether or not the long time ante post favourtie would get into the race or not but Whiskey Sour could be the one that slightly upsets the odds.

It is hard to say that Whiskey Sour is extremely well in off his current mark but he is a horse that has been mainly campaigned over hurdles since he landed a valuable Galway double on the flat last year.

Thanks to dramatic falls of his stable companions in a Leopardstown Grade 1 at Christmas, Whiskey Sour managed to land a top grade novice event in December but his sole run on the flat since then was at Royal Ascot where he preformed well over a longer trip behind his stable companion Lagostovegas.

Whiskey Sour has been the horse that BoyleSports have reported most money for in the last week or so and William Buick is a notable booking. This Ebor trip will suit him more so than the extreme distance of Royal Ascot…

and he is the horse that could be the toast for team Closutton.

Fahey Can Expect A Good Run
Racing today is at the Curragh and Killarney in Ireland and Peter Fahey’s Peregrine Run caught the eye at the Kerry track.

Peter Fahey is sticking first time blinkers on the horse who didn’t manage to get involved in the Galway Plate but can have a say in this slightly easier heat.

The eight-year-old is high up in the weights but the course and distance winner boasts some good form and ran well as a novice behind Rathvinden.

Course form can be important around Killarney and it would be no surprise if he put his Galway run behind him here as he is a horse that has always been held in very high regard and

should be able to make his mark in a race of this nature before long.

Recommended Bets:
Whiskey Sour (7/1) – 3.40 York
Peregrine Run – 4.20 Killarney
