Willie Mullins Backed For Ninth Top Trainer Title At Cheltenham Festival

Willie Mullins is already being backed to be crowned top trainer at the 2022 Cheltenham Festival.

The Closutton trainer has landed the title at Prestbury Park a whopping eight times…

…and now odds have been cut for a ninth title into 8/15 from 8/11 in the betting this week.

That makes Mullins the clear favourite in the betting to finish the week with most winners as he boasts a potential team including the likes of Sir Gerhard, Ferny Hollow, Allaho, Galopin Des Champs, Chacun Pour Soi, Energumene and dual Gold Cup winner Al Boum Photo.

Cullentra based trainer Gordon Elliott is the 7/2 second favourite having last been crowned winner in 2018 with eight winners over the four days. Henry De Bromhead has a fine team heading across the pond in March and is 6/1 for his first top trainer win.

Nicky Henderson was the last UK trainer to finish Festival week with most winners back in 2012 and is 7/1 to win back the crown with Paul Nicholls and Dan Skelton both at 66/1.
