Ireland 2nd Favourite To Win Hockey World Cup

The Ireland women’s hockey team now only have one side ahead of them in the betting for World Cup glory after they reached the last four of the tournament in London.

Graham Shaw’s side defied the odds by beating India in a quarter-final shootout on Thursday and now face a showdown against another surprise package in Spain for a place in the World Cup Final.

Ireland, who topped Pool B ahead of England, are 11/8 to continue their dream run by seeing off Spain while their last four opponents are outsiders of the two at 13/8.

Spain are also 8/1 outsiders of the remaining four teams to win the tournament, while Ireland are 9/2 second favourites to go on and become World Champions on Sunday.

The Netherlands are the only side ahead of the Irish in the betting as 4/9 odds-on favourites to land their 8th World Cup having taken part in 11 of the 13 finals since the competition began.
