Oscars Betting Odds For Irish Nominations

Best Picture – The Banshees of Inisherin

This is the big one at the Oscars and Ireland’s The Banshees of Inisherin is in with a great chance of securing this prized Oscar according to the latest betting odds. The Banshees is rated as second favourite in the betting at odds of 10/3 to be crowned the Best Picture.

The favourite for the Best Picture Oscar is Everything Everywhere All At Once which is at short odds of 1/3. The Irish film will need to pull off the upset to scoop the award here but at second favourite it definitely can’t be counted out of doing just that.

Every other film nominated for Best Picture after The Banshees in the betting is rated as an outside shot. All Quiet On The Western Front comes in at 9/1 third favourite, Top Gun Maverick is 10/1 and The Fabelmans is at odds of 11/1. The other nominees are 25/1+.

Best Actor – Colin Farrell & Paul Mescal

Ireland have two nominees in the Best Actor category at this year’s Academy Awards. Colin Farrell is rated as the Irish man most likely to get his hands on the Best Actor Oscar as he is installed as third favourite in the betting at odds of 5/1.

Farrell will need to beat out Best Actor favourite Brendan Fraser, who has odds of 5/6 to land the award. Austin Butler at 11/10 odds, making him the second favourite in the category, will also give Farrell stiff competition.

Ireland’s other nominee for the Best Actor award is Paul Mescal who shot to fame from his role as Connell in Normal People. Mescal is a longshot in the betting as things stand with odds of 25/1 for the award.

Brendan Gleeson is the second Irish nominee her and he is third favourite to win the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award at 10/1 odds. Both Keoghan and Gleeson, nominated for their performances in The Banshees of Inisherin, will have to get the better of the massive 1/10 favourite for the Best Supporting Actor Ke Huy Quan.

Ireland’s nominee in the Best Supporting Actress category at this year’s Oscars is Kerry Condon. The Irish actress earned her nomination here for her role as Siobhán Súilleabháin in The Banshees and finds herself as the 9/4 second favourite in the category.

Condon will have to beat out Angela Bassett who has been installed as the 1/3 betting favourite for her role in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

Best Director – Martin McDonagh

The man behind The Banshees of Inisherin, Martin McDonagh, earns a well deserved nomination for the Best Director Oscar. Despite the success of McDonagh’s film he is rated as a longshot in the Best Director category at odds of 16/1.

In this category there is a strong odds-on favourite with Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, the directors of Everything Everywhere All At Once, rated as 1/8 to land the Best Director Academy Award.

Best Film Editing – The Banshees of Inisherin & Elvis

This is yet another Oscars category where Ireland have two nominations. The most likely of the Irish prospects to scoop the award is The Banshees who are third favourites in the odds at 16/1.

Jonathan Redmond is the other Irish nominee here for his work in editing Elvis. Redmond is further back in the betting for this category at 20/1 and will need to cause a big upset to land this award at the Oscars ceremony.

Best Original Score – The Banshees of Inisherin

More Oscars recognition here for The Banshees as the film secured a nomination for Best Original Score. However, of the nine nominations the movie received this is one of the least likely to result in an Academy Award as The Banshees comes in at 20/1 odds making it fourth in the betting for this category.

Best Original Screenplay – The Banshees of Inisherin

According to our odds makers this is The Banshees best chance of landing an Oscar as the film is rated as the 4/6 betting favourite in the Best Original Screenplay category.

If the Irish film is to go on and win this Academy Award it will have to beat out stiff competition from Everything Everywhere All At Once which is a close second favourite here at 11/10 in the betting.

Best International Feature Film – The Quiet Girl (An Cailin Ciuin)

The Quiet Girl or An Cailín Ciúin as it is called in Irish has earned a nomination for the Best International Feature Film Oscar. The Irish film is joint second favourite in this category at odds of 8/1 behind the favourite All Quiet On The Western Front at 1/12 odds and along with Argentina, 1985 which is also 8/1 in the betting.

Best Visual Effects – Avatar: The Way of Water

Ireland’s best chance of an Oscar, and almost a certainty if you are to believe the betting odds, is Richard Baneham for his work in visual effects on Avatar: The Way of Water.

The blockbuster film is rated as 1/20 to secure the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects and in the process secure an Oscar for Ireland.
