Kubrat Pulev promoter takes Jake Paul aim: He would smash you

Jake Paul would be “smashed to pieces” if he fought Kubrat Pulev, says the Bulgarian’s promoter Ivaylo Gotsev.

Speaking to BoyleSports ahead of Pulev’s clash with Derek Chisora on Saturday night at the 02 Arena in London, Gotsev was briefly asked about Paul’s early boxing career.

With Paul willing to take on fighters from the world of boxing and MMA, looking to step up his progression further, Pulev is not likely to be one.

“Jake Paul knows who to call and who not to call,” said Gotsev.

“There is no way this guy is going to come our way because there are smart people around him – they’ll pick the right battles.

“Kubrat would smash Jake Paul to pieces, that would not be a problem.
 
“Yeah, he’s 41-years-old. But strange things are happening now with today’s advancements with training regimes, nutrition, how to take care of your body.

“Boxers extend their ring life because they take care of their bodies properly.

“Kubrat has gained strength over the years and experience. So to me the 41-years-old is a bonus.”

Meanwhile, Gotsev has revealed Pulev’s bout against Joe Joyce did not happen because Frank Warren did not offer enough money.

“Kubrat has been on a big stage, a much bigger stage than Joyce has been on – he’s challenged for the title twice and proved to be a formidable opponent and therefore needs to be treated properly when it comes to negotiations,” he said.

“We had talks more than once with Joe Joyce, but Joyce’s promoter came in light on all occasions – they came in pretty light as far as the offer was concerned. This is the reason why the fight has not happened.

“And then you have Daniel Dubois. That’s another possible fight with the same promoter. So, yeah, we’ll be talking. But first things first. Taking care of business July 9 (against Derek Chisora).”
