Messi has now netted four goals for his team and as a result his price has hardened into 9/4 from 4/1.

Messi is now level on goals with Brazil’s Neymar who has been eased out to 5/2 from 6/4.

Colombia’s James Rodriguez, has already netted three goals for his country and is priced at 28/1, whilst France’s Karim Benzema and Germany’s Thomas Muller have also netted three goals with both players priced at 6/1.

Messi is by far our worst result in the ante-post book as he had been popular with customers prior to the World Cup commencing and initially was installed at 8/1 for the Top Goalscorer award.
