Mighty Support For Mike Ahead Of PDC World Darts Championship

The PDC World Darts Championship throws into action this Thursday night at Alexandra Palace and BoyleSports can report that 2017 champion Michael van Gerwen is all punters want.

It was a historic win for van Gerwen two years ago after he saw off Gary Anderson and set a new record for the highest World Darts Championship 3-dart average in his semi-final victory over Raymond van Barneveld. Even heading the betting as the 11/8 favourite hasn’t deterred punters from getting behind Mighty Mike.

The Flying Scotsman, Gary Anderson, is second to van Gerwen at 10/3 to reclaim his dominance in the tournament having bowed out at the quarter-finals stages to Phil Taylor last year.

Michael Smith is one to watch as punters attacked his odds in the lead up to the tournament seeing him backed at 22/1, 20/1, 16/1, leaving him currently 14/1 in the outright market.

Defending champion Rob Cross is 22/1 to win back-to-back titles, but punters haven’t been keen on ‘Voltage’ even at his alluring odds.

BoyleSports have a double winnings offer on the tournament which will see double winnings as a free bet if the winning player wins the match with a checkout of 100 or greater. A 170 checkout in the tournament is red hot at 1/33 to happen.

Michael van Gerwen is filling a Taylor-shaped void in the PDC World Championship betting

…as he takes over as the new obvious and heavily backed pick with punters at 11/8. Rob Cross may have knocked Mighty Mike out in the semi-finals last year, but support is suggesting he is set to join Phil Taylor in being the second ever player to get his hands on a third title at the Ally Pally.
