BBC Sports Personality Of The Year

Outright Betting

Andy Murray, who will be confirmed World Number 1 on Monday when the latest rankings are released, is now the red hot 4/9 favourite to become the first ever sportsman to win back to back BBC SPOTY awards and take the coveted crown for a third time.

The Scot, who defeated American John Isner in Sunday’s Paris Masters final was priced at 11/8 on Friday.

But he has now hardened into the strong 4/9 favourite to retain the crown next month after his victory in Paris and ranking boost.

Murray’s nearest rival in the betting is triathlete Alistair Brownlee at 7/2 with Mo Farah next in the betting at 13/2.

Laura Trott is currently 10/1 having been eased from 8/1 whilst Gareth Bale who recently extended his contract with Real Madrid is available at 20/1.

While Murray remains the one to beat at 4/9, traders have reported some shrewd each way support for both Nick Skelton at 33/1 and Anthony Joshua at 40/1.
