Newbridge Or Nowhere For Kildare

As Kildare continue their battle with the GAA to obtain home advantage in their All-Ireland round 3 qualifier match against Mayo this Saturday, we have weighed in with the odds.

Having been drawn first, Kildare were entitled to home advantage but the GAA’s Central Competitions Control Committee ruled St Conleth’s Park in Newbridge unsuitable on health and safety grounds.

Croke Park was then named as the venue for the clash, seeing a double-header with Cavan and Tyrone.

Our odds of 8/13 that the venue of the match will be Newbridge were swallowed up on Tuesday morning and shortened into 4/9, suggesting the CCCC will back down on their decision to move the match.

Dublin’s Croke Park is 2/1 to host the clash.

It is 3/1 that Mayo get a walk over with the GAA threatening that Kildare will forfeit the tie should they not turn up at Croke Park.

While doubt remains whether the match will go ahead at all this Saturday, as the Lilywhites are adamant they will tog out at Newbridge or nowhere, the odds appear to dispel any uncertainty as it is red hot at 1/5 that the match will go ahead.

In the match betting, last year’s All-Ireland beaten finalists Mayo are 4/11 to get past the Lilywhites, who are currently 11/4 underdogs.
