Ruben Amorim

The Sporting Lisbon boss is reported to be high on the list of targets for the Midlands side. He was originally chalked up at 16/1 when the market opened, but is being so heavily backed over the past 24 hours to get the job that we’ve slashed him into odds-on favourite at 4/5.

Sporting are one of the big clubs in Portugal and they still have Champions League aspirations this season so it would be a big move for Amorim to leave the Portuguese side.

With that being said, the bright lights of Premier League football are an attractive prospect to any coach so it would be an understandable decision on Amorim’s part. You can back Amorim to get the Villa job at odds of 1/2.

Unai Emery

Emery has had a decent spell with Spain’s Villareal in La Liga and has had them playing very attractive flowing football. Of course, Emery’s previous stint in the Premier League was with Arsenal and that might have left the Spaniard with bad memories of English football.

Could the current Villareal manager want another chance at proving himself in England’s top flight? Emery is currently 4/1 in the betting for the Villa job.

Mauricio Pochettino

Pochettino was the clear odds-on favourite in the betting to replace Gerrard as Villa manager when the marked opened. The Argentinian would be a very popular choice as he plays a very attractive style of high press attacking football.

The biggest question is if Pochettino will want to go take the job with a struggling Aston Villa squad after just leaving one of Europe’s top teams in PSG. You can back Mauricio Pochettino to be the next Aston Villa manager at 6/1.

Sean Dyche

The former Burnley manager’s name is sure to pick up a lot of buzz whenever there is a Premier League manager vacancy. Dyche comes highly regarded after the successful job he did at Turf Moor over a number of years with little in the way of resources.

While Dyche won’t bring the most beautiful style of football to Villa Park this would be a very practical hire for Villa who need someone to steady the ship right away. Sean Dyche is 6/1 to fill the Villa vacancy.

The Next Ireland Manager?

Thomas Frank

There are reports that Aston Villa are interested in acquiring the services of the current Brentford manager Thomas Frank. With Brentford flying high right now at 10th in the Premier League table it might be difficult for Frank to convince himself to make the move.

Villa do offer Frank the prospect of a greater transfer budget and a big fanbase which could tempt the Dane into accepting a Villa job offer. Frank is 7/1 to be named the next Villa boss.

Michael Beale

The current QPR manager Michael Beale is a name to keep an eye on for the Villa job. Beale was approached by Wolves for their manager job but turned them down.

Perhaps Beale could find Aston Villa as a more attractive job opening? Beale would be an interesting choice as he was previously an assistant at the club under Gerrard. You can back Michael Beale at odds of 10/1 to be the next Aston Villa manager.
