Parker guided the south coast side to promotion last season by finishing second in the Championship, but the Cherries are the first club to wield the axe this season after three defeats in four matches, including Sunday’s 9-0 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield.

Gary O’Neil has been placed in temporary charge and has been chalked up as 10/1 third favourite to get the job on a permanent basis, but former Burnley boss Dyche is the early frontrunner as he was quickly cut into 13/8 from 3/1 after betting was opened by BoyleSports.

Chris Wilder, whose Middlesbrough side have made an underwhelming start in the Championship, is 8/1 second favourite.

Other possibilities include Michael Carrick and a second stint at the helm for Jonathan Woodgate (both 12/1), while some early speculation on Sam Allardyce has seen the one-time England manager clipped into 25/1 from 33/1.

Lawrence Lyons, spokesperson for BoyleSports said: “Sean Dyche was the name they were all coming for in the hours after Scott Parker’s sacking and there are very few other names attracting significant support so far.

He has the pedigree, so we’ve cut the ex-Burnley man into 13/8 from 3/1 as a result and it has given him a clear lead in the early betting.”
