Next Leicester Manager Odds – Who Will Replace Brendan Rodgers?

Check out all the latest next Leicester manager odds and betting favourites to replace Brendan Rodgers and take over at the King Power Stadium.

Why Did Brendan Rodgers Leave Leicester?

Brendan Rodgers has been removed from his role at Leicester City by mutual consent on the 2nd of April following a 2–1 defeat v relegation rivals Crystal Palace. During his four-year spell at the club, he guided the club to 2x 5th place finishes, 1x FA Cup the first in their history, 1x Community Shield and 1x European Semi-Final.

However, that defeat at the weekend meant they had lost 4 out of their last 5 EPL games, their other result being a 1-1 draw away to 10-man Brentford.

They currently lie 19th in the table on 25 points one point adrift from safety with ten games to play. Leicester decided to act quickly and agree for Rodgers to depart the role. We have looked at the top contenders in the betting market to replace him at Leicester.

Graham Potter 10/11

Having only been just sacked at Chelsea following their 2-0 home defeat to Aston Villa on Saturday, Graham Potter has been tipped for a swift return to management with Leicester City. Potter had not a good time of it at Stamford Bridge as his Chelsea side struggled for goals with a record of 12 wins, 8 draws and 11 defeats from his 31 matches a win ratio of only 38.7%

That win ration was the worst at the London club since Hiddink’s record of 35%. However, before the Chelsea job Potter had virtually started at the bottom of the management ladder working with Leeds Metropolitan University, and Leeds Carnage in the North West Counties at step nine of the football pyramid before getting his break at Östersund.

There in Sweden he earned the club European Football for the first time and then Swansea and Brighton, it would be hard to argue he did not put the hard graft in before earning the Chelsea role seven months ago. Potter despite his recent sacking is a pragmatic coach who is extremely innovative with his tactics and coaching methods.

His favoured formation is a back three – usually in a 3-4-3 with two number 10s behind one striker, or a 3-4-1-2 with one 10 behind two centre-forwards. The move to Chelsea may have come too soon for him but he looks an excellent fit for Lecister which is reflected in his 10/11 favourite status.

Rafa Benitez 5/1

The elder statesman amongst the market leaders, Benitez’s last managerial role came with Everton where he was sacked on the 16th of January 2022 after 6.5 months in charge when the club was 15th, six points above the relegation zone, having lost nine of their previous 13 games.

Benitez could be seen as the experienced pair of hands needed to steer the club away from relegation following his 37 years of managerial experience across Spain, England, Italy and China. Remarkably, over his managerial career he has never been more than two years out of work as he has always made himself available for all sorts of challenges.

Benitez is a coach known for his tactical acumen, well-drilled and pragmatic sides that are defensively sold, this may not be in line with what the hierarchy and fans are accustomed to at Leicester but survival is the main aim this season.

At 5/1 Benitez could be the man to take over at the King Power and there have also been reports that the club have already been in contact with him about taking over.

Steven Gerrard 12/1

Most recently, the manager of Aston Villa was dismissed on the 20th of October 2022 following a record of just 2 wins in their opening 12 games. He had been appointed on the 11th of November 2021 and the side finished the season in 14th place, three places lower than the previous campaign.

Despite his struggles with Villa before that Gerrard had shown himself to be at least a competent manager at Rangers from 2018-2021. His time with the club culminated in the 2020-21 season when Rangers had a record-breaking season winning back-to-back derby wins over rivals Celtic, and topping their Europa League group.

Rangers would win the Scottish Premiership title on the 7th of March 2021 under Gerrard’s guidance. That season they did not lose a single league match, receiving 102 points and conceding only 13 goals across 38 matches.

Given the name value of Gerrard, he will be given another managerial opportunity in the future I just do not think it will be this time but he is 12/1 to get the job.

Ralph Hasenhüttl 12/1

Another out-of-work candidate for the role who has been without a job since Southampton parted company with him back in November with the side in the relegation zone with 12 points in their first 14 games. He had been in the job since December 2018 and despite coming only 16th in his first season in his second they came 11th, their best finish in three seasons.

Their final tally of 52 points was the team’s highest total since 2015–16 and in the next season 15th. He is another proponent of the Gegenpress system which has him nicknamed “The Alpine Klopp” his formation used is generally a variation of 3-5-2 or 3-4-3 where he wants his side to “be hungry, emotional and full of passion”. Hasenhuttl is another interesting option at 12/1 in the next Leicester manager odds.

Ange Postecoglou 14/1

One thing that should be particularly noted when considering Ange’s prospects for the Leicester job is that the pathway from Celtic to Leicester was what was done by their most recent manager Brendan Rodgers. There could be an appreciation from the Leicester hierarchy about a repeat move for a Celtic manager.

Since Australian Ange has taken charge of Celtic following their time in Japan and Australia he has done an excellent job since becoming manager on the 10th of June 2021 on a 12-month rolling contract becoming the first Australian to coach a major club in Europe. Celtic had just lost out to Rangers for the league for the first time in a decade.

Postecoglou won his first trophy in charge at Celtic on the 19th of December 2021 beating Hibernian 2-1 in the Scottish League Cup. He also ended a Rangers 13-match unbeaten run when they beat them 3-0, the following February he would win the Scottish Premier League in his first season in charge.

This year he has won the League Cup again and the side is currently nine points clear at the top of the table this season. There is also the matter of an upcoming Old Firm this weekend and we recently counted down the top 5 most controversial Old Firms of all time ahead of the derby clash between Scotland’s two footballing giants.

It’ll be hard to prize away the Celtic manager as they look poised to win another league title, but history has shown it’s very much a possibility and at 14/1 it could be worth a punt.
