The Detroit Lions play in this early Thanksgiving kickoff every year. And they lose almost every year. A Thanksgiving Day loss has become almost like a rite of passage for every Lions team. This time around I don’t expect anything different either as one of the league’s best teams in the Buffalo Bills come to town.
Detroit are 4-6 this season but they are coming off the back of three straight wins so the form is certainly trending in the right direction. However, this is still by no means a good football team. The offence can put up points in bunches but this defence is abysmal so you can expect the Bills to encounter little resistance moving the ball in this game.
Buffalo were the consensus best team in the NFL only a couple of weeks ago but they have struggled a little of late with a surprise loss to the Jets followed up by a wild loss against the Vikings and a sluggish performance last week in a win against Cleveland. Still, they are a far better team than Detroit so I would expect this to be the perfect game for Josh Allen and his team to get this offence firing again.

The Giants head to Dallas for this Thanksgiving game at 7-3 which is only good enough for 3rd place in a loaded NFC East division. They are coming off their worst performance of the season after a 31-18 loss to the Detroit Lions.
New York are one of the best rushing teams in the league powered by perhaps the NFL’s best running back in Saquon Barkley. I would expect the Giants to have a lot of success here running the ball against a poor Cowboys run defence.
The Cowboys, like Detroit, play on Thanksgiving every year and similar to the Lions they have struggled playing on this national holiday. Dallas have failed to cover the handicap in 10 of their last 11 Thanksgiving games including an overtime loss last year to the Raiders.
This team have been a surprise package this year with how good they have been even when their starting QB Dak Prescott was out for a number of weeks during the middle of the season. This is a good not great offence, but the defence is one of the better units in the league and thrives especially in passing situations. Look for star pass rusher Micah Parsons to cause havoc in this game.

The Patriots have had their struggles this season but for all their ups and downs they find themselves only one game behind first place in the AFC East division. New England’s 6-4 record gives you a pretty good indication of how good this team is, and they have been playing their best football in recent weeks. The Pats are one of the hottest teams in the NFL right now with a 5-1 record in their last six games.
The formula for New England is simple – run the ball well on offence, don’t make mistakes in the passing game and play fundamentally sound defence. The passing offence is the biggest concern for this team as second year QB Mac Jones has played poorly so far this season. If this team falls behind and has to pass the ball then things could get ugly.
Minnesota come into this game with one of the best records in the league at 8-2. Their record probably fools people into thinking that this team is a little bit better than they actually are. Dallas traveled to Minnesota last week and dominated the Vikings in all four quarters to leave with a 40-3 win.
The Vikings will be eager to make amends for the embarrassment of last week’s humiliating loss with a good performance this Thursday. Minnesota have one of the better passing attacks in the league with superstar receiver Justin Jefferson as the focal point. QB Kirk Cousins has also been playing well this season.
