Novak Djokovic Shortens For Australian Open Defence
Novak Djokovic is now being backed to defend his Australian Open title after it was confirmed on Tuesday that he has received a medical exemption from requiring a Covid-19 vaccination.
Doubts had surrounded the World Number one’s participation in the event after he withdrew from the Serbia team for the ATP Cup, but he has now been given the green light by an independent panel to begin a bid for a fourth consecutive title in Melbourne later this month.
Djokovic has since been clipped into 5/4 from 7/5 to get his hands on the trophy again,
…a victory which would set him apart from Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal as the most prolific Grand Slam winner in men’s tennis on 21 major titles.
The move has strengthened his grip on favouritism ahead of Daniil Medvedev, who has now been eased slightly to 5/2 from 2/1.
