Birdman Flies To Forefront For Oscars

Best Picture - Oscars

Outright Betting

Birdman has been given a huge boost in the race for the Oscar for Best Picture following its win at the Screen Actors Guild awards on Sunday.

After walking away with the Outstanding Performance by A Cast award, Birdman has jumped right up the betting into the 5/4 second favourite for the Oscar for Best Picture.

Having been firmly in Boyhood’s shadow at 8/1, Birdman’s recent success has now made an interesting two horse race. Boyhood remains favourite at 4/7 for Best Picture but it is a far cry from the shorter price of 1/9 just days ago.

Michael Keaton has some stiff competition for the Oscar for Best Actor in the form of Theory Of Everything actor Eddie Redmayne. Eddie won the Best Actor at the SAGA Awards which has resulted in his price being slashed from 7/4 to now joint 9/10 favourite alongside Birdman’s Michael Keaton.

Julianne Moore is in prime position for her first ever Oscar for Best Actress. After winning Best Actress at the SAGA Awards, Julianne is continuing to hold out strong as the 1/20 favourite. JK Simmons’ win at the awards on Sunday has resulted in the actor strengthening as the favourite to win the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor as he is now on offer at 1/33 from 1/25.

Patricia Arquette walked away with the SAGA for Best Supporting Actress and she looks unstoppable to take the Oscar also. Her role in Boyhood has made her the obvious choice and at 1/33, all that is left is for her name to be officially called out.
