Boyhood To Blow Up At BAFTAs

The BAFTAs are just around the corner and as the nominees wait nervously to find out if they will walk away with an award, BoyleSports has a sneaking suspicion Boyhood will mimic their Golden Globe success.

Boyhood is the odds on favourite at 1/4 to win Best Film, with Birdman it’s only threat to the award at 9/2. Richard Linklater won the Golden Globe for Best Director and is hotly tipped at 1/7 to claim the BAFTA also. Patricia Arquette outshone the rest for her role in Boyhood and claimed the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress. At 1/16 for the BAFTA no one can step in her way, her nearest rival is Keira Knightley at 7/1.

It is a close call in the Outstanding British Film category with The Imitation Game the 5/6 favourite to win, but The Theory Of Everything is hot on its heels at 6/5. The Theory Of Everything is tipped as the favourite for at least one BAFTA, Best Actor, as Eddie Redmayne is 1/8 for his depiction of Stephen Hawking.

JK Simmons is expected to double his award success so far this year at 1/14 to win Best Supporting Actor, having received the award at the Golden Globes. Julianne Moore is also expected to repeat her Golden Globes win at the BAFTAs with BoyleSports installing her as the 1/12 strong favourite for Best Actress

Aoife Heffron, PR Executive at BoyleSports, commented “The Golden Globes have paved the way for the BAFTAs and given punters a good indication of who is in the hot seat for the awards. Boyhood is expected to clean up once more as it heads the betting for Best Film, Best Director and Best Supporting Actress.”

She added “The Imitation Game and The Theory Of Everything is where punters are torn, with support coming in for both to win Outstanding British Film, The Imitation Game is just edging closer to the post at 5/6.”
