Ireland On Course For Record Breaking Sunshine

The heat may have got to one ambitious Irish native after they backed the country to reach the unthinkable 100°F mark as the heatwave looks set to continue into July.

We reported on Thursday that our weather markets are on the rise alongside the thermometers having received multiple requests for Irish temperature records to tumble in the coming weeks.

Whereas the 100/1 shot that the 100°F seems as likely as snowfall this week, other targets look well within reach.

The all-time record of 33.3°C, which was recorded at Kilkenny castle in 1887, is now only 5/2 from 5/1 to be replaced in the history books with a new entry in July.

It’s even shorter at 11/8 that we see the highest ever July temperature recorded in Ireland,

… with the previous mark of 32.3°C in big danger as forecasters warned the public to dive for the sun cream and stay hydrated.

With neighbouring islands also basking in the sweltering heat, the UK’s all-time record of 38.5°C, registered more recently in 2003, is 16/1 to be scorched in July.
