Labour Backed Into Favourites To Win General Election

Labour have leapfrogged the Conservative Party in the betting to win the next UK general election after a new opinion poll gave them a healthy lead in the popularity stakes.

The Opinium poll that asked the public what way they would vote in a general election put the Labour Party ahead on 33%, while support for the Conservatives dropped 3 points to 26%.

However, the betting markets are now also making bleak reading for Theresa May, with the latest trends forcing BoyleSports to make Labour the 10/11 favourites from 6/5 to take most seats the next time the UK goes to the ballot box.

The Conservative Party had been 10/11 favourites before the weekend, but they are now out to 11/10.

The betting is also tipping the election to happen this year at 11/8, with 2022 the next most likely year to host the election.

The poll also signalled a surge in support for Nigel Farage’s new Brexit Party with their popularity at 17%, and they are now 1/2 favourites from 8/11 to win most UK seats in the upcoming European Elections, with Labour close behind at 6/4 and the Tories cut adrift at 40/1.
