McCoy Favourite For SPOTY Award Following Retirement News

Following the announcement that AP McCoy will be retiring at the end of the season there has been a massive move on him to win the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Award.

The 19 time champion jump jockey was a 40/1 outsider for the award just this morning, but when the news broke that he would be retiring the money came quick and fast and he is now the 3/1 favourite.

Previous favourite, Rory Mc Ilroy is now second in the betting at 6/1, with Lewis Hamilton next at 8/1 and Andy Murray priced at 8/1 for the BBC Sports Personality of the Year award.

Aoife Heffron, PR Executive at BoyleSports, commented “Having been the first jockey to win the award back in 2012 if would be a fitting send off for AP McCoy to claim it once more as he heads into retirement.”

She added “Punters have been backing AP McCoy off the boards since he announced he will be retiring and has resulting in the jockey shortening into the now 3/1 favourite from 40/1.”
