Michaela Coel Made Favourite To Land Doctor Who Role

An intense betting heat has opened up on who will be cast as the next Doctor Who after reports that Jodie Whittaker is set to quit the role after the next series.

Whittaker became the first female to play the Time Lord when she was named as the thirteenth Doctor Who in 2017, but is set to follow in the footsteps of previous incarnations when she steps down after her third series.

‘I May Destroy You’ creator Michaela Coel has been installed as the early frontrunner at 6/1.

Plenty of the early speculation suggests IT Crowd star Richard Ayoade fits the bill after he was clipped into 8/1 from 10/1.

Killing Eve’s Jodie Comer is also a lively early contender as the 10/1 third favourite.

Among the outsiders to take on the role are The Crown’s Olivia Colman (33/1), former One Direction star Harry Styles (40/1) and Tom Hardy (also 40/1) who is instead the hot favourite to take on the role of James Bond after Daniel Craig’s final outing in ‘No Time To Die’ this year.
