Oscar Finally Within Reach For DiCaprio

There’s been a shake-up in the Oscars betting following the Golden Globes on Sunday night with a first Academy Award now well within Leonardo DiCaprio’s sights.

The Revenant cleaned up at the ceremony winning Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actor awards and as the Oscars draw near it looks like the picture will continue to dominate.

Leo The Great
Leonardo DiCaprio’s first Oscar is within reach as he now heads the betting for Best Actor at the short odds of 1/8 after being cut from 1/5 as punters continue to show their support.

The Revenant Director Alejandro González Iñárritu quickly saw a price cut after his Golden Globe success and he can now be backed at 11/10 from 9/4 to claim the same award at the Oscars, with Ridley Scott drifting to 2/1 for The Martian.

Spotlight remains the favourite for the Academy Award for Best Picture, however it has suffered a major drift out to 5/6 from strong odds of 1/2 paving the way for The Revenant to pose a threat, having seen its price slashed into 6/4 from 6/1.

Brie Larson won the award for Best Actress and is in pole position at 3/10 from 8/13 to bag her first Oscar.

Saorise Ronan is the second favourite at 3/1 with Jennifer Lawrence remaining a 9/1 shot, despite winning the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy.

Sly Support For Stallone
Sylvester Stallone walked away with the award for Best Supporting Actor and has subsequently been cut into joint 6/4 favourite from 4/1 following a siege of bets. Joining Stallone at 6/4 is Mark Rylance for his role in Bridge Of Spies, having been eased out from 5/4.

In the Best Supporting Actress category, Rooney Mara has been pushed out to 1/2 from 1/3 after Kate Winslet was awarded the Golden Globe for her performance in the Steve Jobs biopic, resulting in a large cut from 10/1 to 4/1.
