Patrick And John Head To Head For Voice Title

The quarter finals of the Voice Of Ireland had some shocks in store with the favourite Niall O’Halloran making his exit and Kayleigh Cullinan, another key contender, also leaving the show.

It resulted in an upheaval in the betting but paved the way for Patrick Donoghue and John Bonham to take centre stage.

Patrick spent many weeks in Niall’s shadow as the second favourite, but after making it through on the public vote he was quickly made the 7/4 favourite from 11/4. Patrick is not the sole favourite and has to share the limelight with John Bonham, from Team Kian.

John wowed with his cover of ‘Stand By Me’ and his price was slashed in half, from 10/1 to 5/1, however punters came out in force to support the Dublin rocker and he was quickly made the joint favourite.

Team Una’s John Sheehy is next in the betting at 8/1. Despite criticism from Kian, Kieran McKillop impressed the public, who put him through, and he has shortened drastically from 33/1 to 9/1. Emma Humber also shortened to win after her take on Bjork’s ‘Play Dead’ and is now 10/1 from 12/1.

It was not all good news however as Denise Morgan and Sarah McTernan both drifted from 11/1 to 16/1 and Helena Bradley Bates is bottom of the betting at 25/1.

John Bonham is this year’s darkhorse on the Voice Of Ireland. Having been initially installed at 14/1 the rocker has been shortening each week. It was a hectic quarter final for our traders with john being cut into 5/1 from 10/1 and then again from 5/1 into the now 7/4 joint favourite following a rush of support.

With the favourite getting the boot on Sunday it just goes to show you that anything can happen on the Voice Of Ireland and at present the competition is wide open. Punters have been backing John Sheehy of late but the majority of the support is coming in for joint favourites John Bonham and Patrick Donoghue.
