Punters Banking on The Favourite To Live Up To BAFTA Favouritism

BAFTA Awards

Best Actor

It looks like it will be a night for the Favourites at the BAFTAs on Sunday as punters continue to support periodic comedy The Favourite further into the market leader for Best Film.

Having been ferociously backed into 5/1 to 5/4 last week and again shortening to 6/5 as a result of support on Tuesday, punters just can’t seem to get enough The Favourite, directed by Yorgos Lanthimos, and it is now odds-on at 4/5 to take the award.

Early frontrunner, Roma has drifted right out to a non-threatening 7/4 second favourite having been a close second at 6/4 before the last burst of support washed in. Alfonso Cuaron’s autobiographical drama was initially the 20/21 early favourite to nab the award for Best Film.

Mexican director, Cuaron, looks unstoppable for Best Director as he now sees odds as short as 1/10 having been cut in from 1/8 ahead of the award ceremony.

Another firm favourite is Olivia Colman, as she leads the charge for Best Actress for her role as Queen Anne in The Favourite at 1/5.

Rami Malek has also closed in on the BAFTA for Best Actor with his odds shortening further into odds-on favouritism, now 4/7, having been cut into 8/13 from 8/11 during the week, leaving the Bohemian Rhapsody star with next to no competition according to the betting.
