O’Brien Set To Score Again At Chester

Aidan O’Brien was among the winners on day two of Chester’s May meeting and it would be a surprise if the master of Ballydoyle didn’t notch up another winner on the final day.

Aidan’s Derby Hopes Past And Present
O’Brien saddled a 1-2-3 in yesterday’s Chester Vase and a 1-2 in the race last year led by subsequent Epsom Derby runner-up US Army Ranger.

US Army Ranger returns today for the Ormonde Stakes and should provide the second leg of a Ballydoyle double with this year’s Epsom hopeful Cliffs Of Moher set to instigate the brace in the Dee Stakes.

Cliffs Of Moher comes here “just ready to start” according to O’Brien but horses that emerge from his corner of Tipperary don’t tend to turn up too unready and you’d expect that while this race will leave him spot on for Epsom, Cliffs Of Moher will be too good for his eight rivals on this occasion.

He’s just 7/1 for the Derby this morning and may not be much bigger than half that after the Dee Stakes this afternoon.

US Army Ranger takes on Midterm who looked to be Sir Michael Stoute’s main Derby hopeful last season until disappointing in the Dante Stakes and he hasn’t won since. US Army Ranger was third on his seasonal bow at Naas and has got the pick of the form from last season and should frank that here.

Recommended Bets:
Cliffs Of Moher (8/13) – 2.25
US Army Ranger (5/2) – 3.35
