Pallas To Rule For Elliott In Grade One Double

Just as Footpad was yesterday , Samcro is the horse not to miss today but he’s not a betting proposition for many.

The novice stepping into open company will make for brilliant viewing but there are better priced prospects elsewhere on the card.

Grade One Compensation For Elliott
With a strong hand in the Champion Hurdle courtesy of Samcro, Gordon Elliott might well be set for a Grade 1 double on the penultimate day of the season thanks to Pallasator in the Profile Systems Novices’ Hurdle.

Somewhat disappointing on his first couple of hurdling outings, Pallasator has certainly seemed to put it all together of late albeit in lesser company. His victory at Leopardstown was faultless and he stepped up in grade to win at Fairyhouse then.

This race has cut up a bit and with many of the declared runners after running either earlier this week, I think he…

can get the better of the fresh horses with the maiden Debuchet possibly being his biggest danger.

Meade to Bel Among The Winners
Bel Ami De Sivola has to pull out fresh from his recent victory at Fairyhouse but the handicapper has certainly given this horse a chance to score again and with some decent form and with a nice weight in this novice handicap chase he looks the pick of the field.

Top weight Kemboy has good form himself but has been busy of late and has to concede plenty of weight to the selection, while De Plotting Shed has been consistent but has failed to win in a while. Bel Ami De Sivola’s form from Fairyhouse got a boost by Crosshue Boy winning a decent race at Ayr last week and Bon Papa wasn’t disgraced here yesterday so if all is well with Bel Ami De Sivola after Fairyhouse and with a step up in trip to suit…

he would look one of the better bets on the card.

Lucky Last For Harrington
Jessica Harrington is unlikely to leave without a winner this week, she rarely does at Punchestown, and her best chance could be in the last race on the penultimate day with Press Conference.

I’m a big fan of Carefully Selected who could be a smashing novice hurdler next season and did nothing wrong again in the Champion Bumper on Wednesday and Press Conference was a fine second behind him at Naas on soft ground back in February.

When you see the best of the Mullins team in a bumper being 7/1 you know it must be open enough but a few of the runners here do have creditable form and it will be a decent race which is likely to produce plenty of winners in time. However, Press Conference wasn’t with Harrington long when making his debut for the yard and is likely to continue to improve over time so

hopefully he can sign off the season on a winning note.

Recommended Bets:
Pallasator (5/2) – 6.05 Punchestown
Bel Ami De Sivola (7/1) – 4.20 Punchestown
Press Conference (3/1) – 7.45 Punchestown
