Paul Callaghan’s Horse Racing Tips – Sunday 6th December

Ex-jockey turned broadcaster Paul Callaghan previews Sunday’s feature race at Punchestown.

1.40 Punchestown – John Durkan Memorial Punchestown Chase (Grade 1) over the extended 2 miles 4 furlongs.
This is set to be a real cracker with some old favourites lining up. I’m going to side with the Henry De Bromhead trained Chris’s Dream, ridden by BoyleSports horse racing ambassador Robbie Power.

I thought he ran an absolute cracker to finish second at Down Royal in October. He did everything right except win but that was over 3 miles and the step back down in trip will suit, as much as the five week rest period since Down Royal.

Time between his races has been an integral part of this horse’s progression, connections discovered in his younger days.

He’s a horse I absolutely love and I’m expecting a bold show on Sunday afternoon.
