Chances Of Irish Border Poll Within Two Years Heavily Backed
The odds on a referendum on Irish unity shortened at the weekend after a new opinion poll indicated majority support for a vote.
The new LucidTalk poll for The Sunday Times suggested that
50.7% of voters would support a referendum on Irish unity
…prompting Sinn Féin’s Michelle O’Neill to call on the Irish government to ‘step up preparations.’
At the start of the year, BoyleSports had been offering 10/1 about a border poll happening before 2023, but the odds have now been cut into just 3/1.
48% of respondents in the same opinion poll also believed that there would be a united Ireland within 10 years and the chances of a referendum passing before the end of the decade are also getting shorter a 5/1 from 14/1 at the end of last year.
