Coveney Closes In On Fine Gael Favouritism

Simon Coveney has shortened further to take over as the next Fine Gael leader as the pressure continues to mount for Enda Kenny to call time on his reign.

The Cork South-Central TD is now priced at 15/8 as the bets continue to roll in. Support picked up for Coveney early on Friday, seeing his price cut from 3/1 to 5/2 and as it continues, we could be set for a large payout should he succeed Enda Kenny.

Leo Varadkar remains the favourite to lead Fine Gael after Kenny, but has drifted further after support for his colleague.

Varadkar is now 4/9 from 3/10 having only been eased from 1/4 on Friday. The drift comes in light of reports that the party have lost some confidence in him due to his speculated actions in trying to oust Kenny.
