Fitzgerald Backed In Fine Gael Race

There has been a surge in support for current Tánaiste and Minister for Justice and Equality Frances Fitzgerald over the past 24 hours to succeed Enda Kenny as leader of Fine Gael.

The Limerick native is now 12/1 from 16/1 as the race hots up to replace Enda Kenny who is expected to step down in the near future.

Simon Coveney remains the odds on favourite to be the next Leader of Fine Gael but has been eased to 8/11 from 4/6.

Original favourite for the job Leo Varadkar has seen his odds shorten slightly into 11/10 from 6/5. Richard Burton is priced at 12/1 with Paschal Donohoe next in the betting at 18/1.

Regina Doherty and current Minister for Health Simon Harris are 80/1 outsiders to land the job.
