Frances Fitzgerald To Remain As Tánaiste Until December 1st?

Sinn Féin have submitted a motion of no confidence in Tánaiste Frances Fitzgerald following her involvement and handling of Garda whistleblower, Maurice McCabe.

The motion, which is due before the Dáil next Wednesday, would need some votes from Fianna Fáil to be passed.

Should they vote no confidence, it may result in a Christmas Election.

The rest of the parties are looking for clarity about an email that was sent to her in May 2015 which highlighted key strategies to be used against whistleblower Maurice McCabe before they vote.

BoyleSports are offering 5/6 odds that Frances Fitzgerald will remain as Tánaiste until 1st December 2017 with the year of the next general election seeing 2018 as the firm 1/4 favourite.

In other political betting news, Gerry Adams, who recently announced he will be stepping down as leader of Sinn Fein, was the big mover to become the next President of Ireland and is now 20/1 from 80/1 to succeed Michael D Higgins.
