Scottish Independence Odds In The Balance With Referendum.

The latest odds are still marginally in favour of Scotland voting for independence in a second referendum after Alex Salmond ended a dramatic week in Holyrood by launching a new political party.

The former SNP leader said his Alba Party aimed to build a ‘supermajority’ for independence in the Scottish parliament ahead of their election debut in May, but Nicola Sturgeon hit back saying

‘now is not the time to gamble with the future of the country.’

BoyleSports’ latest odds are still backing a referendum to pass by the narrowest of margins, with a yes vote shortening into odds-on at 4/5 from 11/10 at the start of the year.

Sturgeon was cleared of breaking the ministerial code for her part in the Salmond saga, but the spat has made for a much tighter betting affair with an independence vote now 10/11 to fail again.
