Sinn Féin 5/1 To Form Coalition With Fianna Fáil

Sinn Féin have been backed into 5/1 from 7/1 to form a Government in coalition with Fianna Fáil after the next Irish General Election.

The move came as Mary Lou McDonald prepared to be ratified as the new Sinn Féin President at a special Ard Fheis on Saturday..

..replacing Gerry Adams who held the post for more than 34 years.

Fine Gael are favourites to remain in power at 7/2 to form a Government with Independent TDs, while they are 9/2 to form a minority Government after the next visit to the polls.

A General Election to happen in 2018 is still an odds-on shot at 1/2, but was a much hotter 1/8 at the turn of the year, with much of the recent support from punters backing Leo Varadkar to wait until 2019 to ask the country to cast their vote. A 2019 Election is now 15/8 having been all the way out at 7/1 just a month ago.
