The darts pro is predicting that defending Premier League champion Jonny Clayton will have an epic night in the Mercedes-Benz Arena and has tipped his fellow Welshman and best friend up at 13/8 to win the title for the second year in a row.

Jonny Clayton v Joe Cullen

Mark Webster says: “The opening semi-final sees Jonny Clayton take on Joe Cullen and nothing against the Rockstar but I’m sticking with the Ferret here. Jonny has been the best player this year, but I do predict a close one.”

“Joe has beaten Jonny a few times and most recently in a final in London. That gave Joe a huge chance to go on and qualify and that’s exactly what he has done. I just think the experience that Jonny has and the fact he has the darts will be enough to see him book his spot into the final. It’s a long format and being the defending champion will help him massively.”

Michael van Gerwen v James Wade

The second semi-final sees five-time champion Michael van Gerwen face the 2009 champion James Wade with Webster sticking with the ante-post favourite to meet the Ferret in the final.

Mark Webster says: “This is a rivalry that goes back years and James Wade will not be deterred. He will think he has a chance and rightly so as he has had a great Premier League campaign. You could argue that he has been the best player in the competition as he made so many consecutive finals.”

“This is a big ask for the Machine however. He has had his problems with his health but don’t write him off. For me I just think this draw format will suit MVG. It will be nip and tuck early, but Michael will pull away to win 11-7 and meet Jonny in the final.”

“From there I think Jonny Clayton will be crowned the champion and successfully defend his title. I expect plenty of fireworks and a brilliant end to what has been a brilliant Premier League.”
