“Rashford Is A Top 5 Player In The World Right Now” – Saha

Is Marcus Rashford a top five player in world football right now? One former Manchester United striker thinks so.

We caught up with Louis Saha who played ten years in the Premier League, most notably with the Red Devils.

We questioned Saha about all things Man United and started off by asking him for his assessment of Marcus Rashford who has been in incredible form recently.

Just how good has Marcus Rashford been recently, do you think he can be a top five player in the world?

Marcus Rashford is a top five player in the world right now. The one difference between him and Mbappe is the trajectory as Mbappe has won the World Cup already so his confidence has been right up.

If Rashford has a team that play with confidence, he’d already be on a list with all the usual Ballon d’Or contenders.

Everytime he’s played with directness and his fitness is right, he’s unplayable. He’s an amazing talent and it’s been frustrating because he’s been overthinking.

Varane and Martinez have been brilliant at the back, do you think they’re the best centre-back pairing in the league at the moment?

I think Varane and Martinez have been one of the best pairings in the Premier League. They’ve been helped by a great goalkeeper with some great goalkeeping from De Gea.

Their consistency has been great and I’m sure Varane’s Spanish has really helped Martinez.

The back four is so much more stable and that’s probably why Harry Maguire isn’t playing – they all have a great understanding with one another.

Wolves has been linked with Wan-Bissaka, do you think he should go?

I know that Celtic right-back Jusip Juranovic has been linked to some big clubs, but under Ten Hag there’s been a change of dynamic for many players.

Luke Shaw and Marcus Rashford haven’t had the chance to improve in the past but with Ten Hag they now do. Wan-Bissaka can still do this under Ten Hag as he’s a big player and has big potential.

I know Wolves are interested but he can improve his attacking, he’s very physical and he can definitely improve. I will be sad if he goes to Wolves as he hasn’t been helped as much as he deserves.

Wout Weghorst has been linked, what do you make of this?

Hearing rumours for Wout Weghorst is a bit of a surprise, but I won’t get excited this transfer window because it’s not like there’s a £100m striker who we’re gambling on signing.

It’s good that he’s already used to the Premier League, it is very dangerous when players join from abroad – especially for big money – but someone like Joao Felix could bring something completely different straight away.

Filling in the gap with someone like Weghorst is maybe not the right option. I also heard about Vincent Aboubakar – it’s not what I expect to happen and I’d rather see Ten Hag try and continue to get the best out of Rashford and Martial.
