Robbie Power’s Cheltenham 2020 Day 4 Tips

Robbie Power joins us direct from Cheltenham to give his best bets for Day 4 of the festival.

1.30 Triumph Hurdle

Solo was very impressive in Kempton on his last start and is probably the one they have to beat with this ground drying out.

My selection is Allmankind who I was really taken with at Chepstow when I was 2nd to him. He’s a course winner so I’m going to give the nod to Allmankind over Solo.

Best Bet: Allmankind 4/1

2.10 County Handicap Hurdle

Eldorado Allen was 2nd on his comeback start this season after a bit of time off and then 3rd in the contender’s hurdle in Sandown.

He has top weight for a reason and he has to have a very big chance. One further down the weights with a chance is Gordon Elliott’s Thatsy.

He’s a novice on the improve.

He was a little disappointing the last time but I think he has to have a chance in a very competitive handicap.

Best Bet: Thatsy 16/1

2.50 Albert Bartlett

I’m looking forward to riding Harry Senior. He was a good winner on trials day in Cheltenham over 2 and a half miles.

He’s kept very good company this season and getting up to 3 miles would bring about more improvement.

Philip Hobbs and his horse, Thyme Hill, is unbeaten this season. He was 3rd in a Champion Bumper last season and he sets the standard.

I think Harry Senior definitely has a good chance stepping up to 3 miles for the first time.

3.30 Gold Cup

12 go to post for the Gold Cup. You could make a case for 6 or 7 of them. Al Boum Photo was the winner of the race last year and deserves to be favourite.

Lostintranslation was very impressive when he won the BetFair Chase. He was disappointing in the King George, but I just think that run came a bit too soon.

With this drying ground, tongue-tie on for the first time, Lostintranslation has to have a big chance.

He’s a horse I’ve always held in very high regard and I think he can bounce back to form in the Gold Cup.

He’s got great form around this new track in Cheltenham as well so fingers crossed he’s going to have a massive race.

Best Bet: Lostintranslation 6/1

4.10 Foxhunter Chase

Don Poli was a very good horse for Gordon Elliott, has won his last two starts, and Minella Rocco seems to have been rejuvenated by Jonjo O’Neill as well.

This race looks very competitive with last year’s winner Hazel Hill in there as well.

With Derek O’Connor booked and this drop in class, Minella Rocco was 2nd in a Gold Cup to Sizing John so I think he has to have a big chance.

Best Bet: Minella Rocco 11/2

4.50 Grand Annual Chase

Greaneteen comes in here for Paul Nicholls and Harry Cobden. On the back of three wins he has been creeping up the handicap.
Éclair De Beaufeu was also a good winner of a competitive handicap at the Dublin Racing Festival.

My selection is Chosen Mate.

He was very impressive when he won a beginners chase in Gowran Park on his last start.

That form has got a good boost with winning in Naas on Sunday so I’m going to go with Chosen Mate. I’d imagine this race has been the plan for quite some time.

Best Bet: Chosen Mate 15/2

5.30 Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle

Column Of Fire for Gordon Elliott has to have a big chance but Front View for Joseph O’Brien with Jonjo O’Neill booked to ride is the one that will take all the beating.

He was 2nd on his last start and a good winner the time before that so I’m just going to side with Front View.

Best Bet: Front View 9/2
