Robbie Power’s Fairyhouse Review – Sunday 7th April

Just the one ride yesterday but it was a winner on Discordently in the Maiden Hurdle at Fairyhouse.

It was a strong maiden hurdle and the form horses were all to the fore. Discordently just hung on by a short head from La Tektor. He deserved that, he’s been running hard all year and the ground was plenty quick for him.

There’s a 2 & half miler in Punchestown and I reckon that would be his next port of call.

Willie Mullins and Ruby Walshe dominated the first of two Grade 2 races at Fairyhouse on Sunday.

Mr Blue Sky beat stable companion Cash Back and it was a good performance to pull a long way clear of Valdieu in third. It will be interesting to see, later in the year, how much strength and depth there was in the field but take nothing away from Mr Blue Sky and Cash Back, who also ran a good race.

Bold placing from Henry De Bromhead in the 2nd Grade 2 race of the day paid off with Dommage Pour Toi winning. It was a good performance but I wouldn’t say it was the strongest of Grade 2 Novice Hurdles but take nothing away from the winner.
