Six Nations Trophy

England v Ireland Predictions, Betting Tips & Six Nations Odds | Saturday 12th March

Ireland have been made favourites in the match betting for their crucial Six Nations clash with England this weekend.

Andy Farrell’s men are hoping to keep their Triple Crown hopes alive, but saw a nine-match winning run ended by France in Paris last month.

They bounced back with nine tries in a 57-6 drubbing of Italy last week to keep themselves in contention, three points adrift of championship leaders France in the table.

Iain Henderson is back in the squad to boost Andy Farrell’s options for the trip to Twickenham, where Ireland have only beaten England once since 2010.

Ireland are however odds-on at 8/11 to get one over the old enemy, with the six-point defeat to France the only blemish since an eye-catching Autumn series which included a famous victory over the All Blacks.

A defeat for England will shatter any lingering championship aspirations, but a strong home record against their neighbours will give them confidence that they can overcome their 6/5 underdog status.

A 2-point boost in the handicap betting in favour of the hosts is enough to see them go odds-on at 10/11, while anyone thinking the close match-up could result in the first draw between the pair since a 9-9 stalemate at Twickenham in 1968 can snap up odds of 22/1.

Mack Hansen and Andrew Conway lead the way in the first tryscorer betting for the visitors at 10/1 apiece with Leinster flanker Josh van der Flier chalked up as the 7/1 favourite to be named man of the match as he was last time out against the Italians.

PREDICTION
A titanic, physical battle between old foes will come as no surprise here, but Ireland seem to have a bit more form in the book than the hosts. They need to overcome a barren record at Twickenham in recent years, but they should put it up to the English defence and a victory between 1-5 points looks value at 4/1.
