Garry Ringrose Backed To Start Against Scotland In Rugby World Cup

Joe Schmidt cut his original 45-man squad down to 31 last week, ending the dream of 14 players who wanted to take part in the Rugby World Cup.

Former Irish rugby star Brian O’Driscoll had tipped Ringrose to be benched on September 22nd as the Leinster outside centre was on the bench in both recent warm-up games against Wales.

Robbie Henshaw is 1/12 to start in the position with Bundee Aki at 4/9.

Both players started in the Aviva Stadium last Saturday when Ireland beat Wales 19-10 in what was Rory Best and Joe Schmidt’s last time to be a part of the squad on home soil.

Irish fly-half Johnny Sexton returned to action last weekend against Wales making his seasonal bow beside his usual half-back partner Conor Murray.

Sexton is just 1/66 to start against Scotland while Murray is 1/100 to start at scrum-half.

Victories over Wales over the past two weekends have propelled Ireland to number one in the World Rugby rankings ahead of New Zealand and England. Ireland are 8/1 to lift the Webb Ellis trophy with New Zealand the 11/8 favourites ahead of England who are 4/1.
